Walking The Thin Man

In May 2005, I learned that I had developed amyloidosis, a rare protein folding disease. This is my story.

Another Day, Another Pound

Kind of a setback today -- my blood pressure was very low today (85/47), so the doctors didn't attempt to give me Lasix. We'll try again tomorrow.

To be safe, I was given an ultrasound to make sure there were no blood clots in any of my major organs. They found a little fluid in my lungs, but everything checked out. There was some weird action going on in my spleen, but I was told that this behavior has been seen in other amyloid patients.

I've always ran low with my blood pressure, and while the doctors are concerned that I will get dizzy and fall with blood pressure that low, I feel a little fatigued but otherwise fine.

They've upped my midodrine (for low blood-pressure) up from 10mg to 15mg.
