Walking The Thin Man

In May 2005, I learned that I had developed amyloidosis, a rare protein folding disease. This is my story.

Chemo: Day Two

Another full day at the clinic. Same deal - two hours of fluids, some anti-nausea medication, pack in the ice, another 170mg of the nasty stuff, then finally some intravenous Lasix to deal with my edema.

I'm starting to feel some mild side effects from the chemo -- I've sensed a slight decrease in my sense of taste, and I feel a little nauseated, which is starting to put a damper on my appetite. Still, it seems like the medicine is working, as without it they say I would be as sick as a dog.

Tomorrow will be a light day of fluids and diaretics to prepare me for the big day on Friday -- my first stem cell infusion.
