Walking The Thin Man

In May 2005, I learned that I had developed amyloidosis, a rare protein folding disease. This is my story.

Day + 10... Engraftment!

I recieved some excellent news this morning at the hospital. My new (well, old) stem cells have engrafted into my bone marrow! This means that the reconstruction of my immune system has begun, and that the most critical part of the procedure is over. I have officially rebooted :-)

This gives me some additional benefits, like being removed off of all of my antibiotics. Now, I only need to take 2 or 3 pills during the course of the day.

My platlet counts are still low at 22,000, but this is to be expected as they are the last type of cells to nadir. Hopefully this will shift by tomorrow.

I am starting to feel more like myself, although I've been tired due to lack of consistant sleep. I'm also with a bit of tendon pains due to the extra 10 or so pounds in my legs. Neither are too debilitating, and I'm just thankful to be feeling close to myself again.
