Day + 20, Graduating Class
Day Plus Two Zero. It's hard to believe that I was a drooling vegetable without an immune system two weeks ago. But to be fair, the road to recovery has been very, very slow. My body is recovering from the chemotherapy at a snail's pace. But there is recovery. For starters, I've noticed that my rate of hair loss is slowing down. And I could swear that I can taste things just a little better.
The daily trips to the hospital have changed in the last few days. Now that I'm out of the woods and healing now, they're ready to kick me out of the nest so to speak. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't for my edema, I would have been sent home a while ago. I'm like a high school senior, running the place, knowing you've overdone your stay and knowing that you'll be leaving soon.
A couple of new amyloid patients have arrived in the last week, so I've been kicked out of my private room. Now I'm resting in a chair in a shared room with other cancer patients. I'm still getting good service, but I do miss my comfy bed.
My doctors attempted to give me an oral diaretic 'cocktail' to find something that works without needing my catheter (meaning --> not needing to come in anymore.) I've had some success: I lost another pound. This may mean that my daily trips will be coming to an end soon, leaving August to sit back in the apartment and heal.
