Boston Amyloidosis Support Group Meeting

On Saturday, the Amyloidosis Support Group hosted their seasonal meeting at the Boston University Medical Center. The meetings are open to everyone, although it usually attracts patients of the disease and their caregivers.

Typically the format of these meetings are open. Often, someone from the medical community is invited to discuss a particular topic pertinent to the disease. Yesterday's guest speaker was Dr. Berenbaum, a psychologist from BMC. Needless to say, there were many questions and discussions regarding the emotional impact that this disease can have, not only on the patient, but also on the caregiver.

Unlike other diseases which are more widespread, the amyloidosis support community is not very large. For the newly diagnosed patient, it is an effort to hunt down and find resources that they desparately need at this time. If you are related or involved in some way with this disease, I would strongly recommend finding an Amyloidosis Support Group meeting in your area, and going to one. It's a great way to meet others with this disease, and learn tips and tricks on how others are coping.

This is Donna and Muriel by the fireplaced while watching the Northeaster blow by. Muriel is exhaused from watching Donna shove.
She is rehydrating as we speak. It was so great to see you Tony at the meeting and all the others.
Love to you and keep up the good work. You inspire so many with your "healthy good looks"
