Weekly Update

Between my long hours at work and general busy-ness, I haven't had any time to update the blog. That's not to say that there hasn't been any news.

I went to the nephrologist on Tuesday for my bi-monthly check-up. The results of my urine tests were kind of wacky, so we had to discard them. However, my blood and kidney function tests came out a little better than the tests at my six-month evaluation. Focus your attention on the word 'little'. My protein and albumin moved up only a notch, which was a little depressing. It is confirming my fears that my protein loss and edema are going to be a part of my life for a long time.

Today was my first day of my "cardiac rehabiliation". I was initially a little worried about how useful it would be to go to work out at eight in the morning, since I am not a morning person. Considering that I have difficulty navigating to the bathroom in the morning, I had serious doubts about my physical prowess at such an early hour. But, of course I came through.

I arrived at the hospital at 8 sharp. I was greeted by a personal trainer, who showed me about the gym, which is actually a medium-sized room. She slapped a heart monitor on me, and I got to work.

Not much to say about the rehab itself -- I ended up spending 45 minutes on a bike machine and a treadmill, got changed into my work clothes, and I left.

I am scheduled to do this three times a week for at least a month. I'm sure I'll be ripped like Arnold in no time.
