Stress Test
Today I hopped over to Boston Medical to the Cardiology wing for a stress test. When you hear the words stress test you imagine that they would do something to test your nerves, like drive in Boston traffic for an hour. However, it's nothing like that at all. Actually, it's nothing more than an exercise on a treadmill while hooked up to an EKG.
Essentially, this is the test: you are hooked up to a bunch of wires. The technician walks with you to the treadmill. You get on and the treadmill starts, very slowly. Every 30 seconds or so the treadmill gets faster, and inclines just a little bit each time. You stay on the treadmill as long as you can until you can't keep up anymore. That's the test.
I went about 8 1/2 minutes. I would have continued if it wasn't going a million miles an hour.
So, I passed with flying colors. This means that I am ready to start cardiac rehabilation next week. If things turn out good, then I will continue with them three mornings every week. I know that my first exercise session will be easy but I promise I will take it to heart.
Oh, by the way, I wanted to remind everyone about my workmate Aaron, who is running a triathalon next month to support the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Please give.
